T20 World Cup 2024 West Indies and United States

 Games will be held in Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad & Tobago, along with three venues in the USA - Dallas, Florida, and New York.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday confirmed the seven venues in the Caribbean that will host the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 from June 4 to 30. Games will be held in Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, as well as three venues in the USA - Dallas, Florida and New York.


With seven countries in the Caribbean co-hosting, this is the first time the T20 World Cup will be played in the United States.


ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said: "We're delighted to announce the seven Caribbean venues that will host the largest ICC Men's T20 World Cup ever, which will feature 20 teams. Whether you're a player or a fan, these venues will provide an amazing backdrop to the event.


“This will be the third ICC senior men's event hosted by the West Indies, and cricket fans will once again be able to enjoy the unique experience of playing cricket in the Caribbean. I wish to thank Cricket West Indies and the seven host governments for their continued support and commitment to our sport.”


The ICC Men's T20 World Cup venues have been confirmed: Dallas, Florida, and New York


After extensive evaluation of several venues, the ICC awarded the event to the West Indies and the USA in November 2021.

How many teams have qualified for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024?

Co-hosts the West Indies and the United States have already qualified directly for the following ICC T20 World Cup 2024 based on the results of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.


The following teams have qualified for the T20 World Cup:


West Indies, England, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Netherlands, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, USA


In June next year, 20 teams will compete in 55 matches at the largest ICC Men's T20 World Cup in history, according to Cricket West Indies CEO Johnny Grave.


"We thank the host governments of the Caribbean for their overwhelming enthusiasm for hosting what will be the biggest sporting event in our region for decades.


In addition, Grave said: "We are confident that together we will produce a world-class tournament with our unique culture and carnival atmosphere that will ensure there is a real celebration of the sport next June."

The event will feature 20 teams divided into four groups of five.


The prestigious 2024 show piece already has twelve confirmed teams. The first two spots were earned by the West Indies and the USA as hosts, while the remaining eight came from the top finishers in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022 (four in each Super 12 group). On November 14, 2022, Afghanistan and Bangladesh secured their places based on their rankings in MRF Tyres ICC T20 International. The semi-finals will feature the top two teams from each group. The rest of the eight positions will be filled by teams from Africa, Asia, and Europe (two each), and one team each from Americas and EAP regions.


The current list of eligible teams includes West Indies and United States of America as hosts, along with Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan (highest ranked outside automatic qualifiers) and Bangladesh (next best according to T20I rankings on November 14 2022).

After the top two teams in each group advance to the Super Eight phase, the remaining teams will be split into two groups of four.

Format

The 20 passing groups will be partitioned into four gatherings of five, from which the main two groups in each gathering advance to the Very 8 round. In this stage, the passing groups will be parted in to two gatherings of four; the main two groups from each gathering will meet all requirements for the knockout stage, which will comprise of two semi-finals and a final.
